The Kubota Cup Canadian Show Jumping Series moved to the
racetrack infield at the Northlands Horse Show in Edmonton,
Alberta in June. Word of the excitement generated by the Series
had spread and more riders came to participate in the Kubota
Cup Grand Prix in the quest for points toward the Western
Division Championship. Course designer Peter Holmes created a
new set of challenges for the riders...

Episode Five
The Kubota Cup Canadian Show Jumping Series swung east after Edmonton.
This week’s episode comes from the Kubota Capital Classic Show Jumping
Tournament in our nation’s capital, Ottawa, Ontario. The show drew the
top players in Eastern Canada and the United States chasing the $60,000
purse in the Kubota Cup Big Ben Memorial Grand Prix and to start
collecting points toward the Eastern Division Championship. Course
Designer Danny Foster set a difficult and technical course to challenge
the best and weed out the rest...

Episode Seven
The Eastern Division of the Kubota Cup Canadian Show Jumping Series
continues from the 2005 Kubota Bromont International Horse Show
in Quebec. The Kubota Cup Grand Prix is held on the second week-end
of this two-week tournament held on the site of the 1976 Olympic
Equestrian venue. Course Designer Guilherme Noguiera Jorge from Brazil
has created a tough course in the huge Grand Prix field full of
technical challenges and very large jumps...

Episode Eight
The 2005 Kubota Bromont International Horse Show is being held
on Mario Deslauriers home turf. Although he had a great deal
of success as a very young man including being Canadian Champion
twice, a two-time Olympian, a veteral of 12 World Cup finals and,
at the age of 19 was the youngest Canadian to win a World Cup
Championship, at the age of 40 he’s facing new challenges.
Until a few weeks ago his string of horses had been lacking
competitive strength. But, in the past two months he’s added
three new horses to his string, all of whom are entered in
the Kubota Cup Grand Prix...

Episode Nine
The finals for the Western Division Championship are being
held during the Twin Oaks Derby Show in Richmond, British
Columbia. Against a majestic background, 27 horses and
riders will tackle Peter Holmes 1000 meter long Derby
course. It’s double the length of a normal Grand Prix
course and contains 25 jumping efforts including a
difficult Devil’s Dyke. Both horses and riders
must be very fit so as not to tire before completing
the course. Fatigue could be a factor for some...

Fraser River, the Finals for the Western Division Championship

Episode Eleven
With the Western Division finished for the season, focus
is again on the Eastern Division of the Kubota Cup Canadian
Show Jumping Series. The third, of four, competition is set
in Collingwood, Ontario, at the facility run by Jay Hayes
and his family. Coming into this show, 48-year-old two-time
Olympian and 31 year Grand Prix veteran Hayes and his
10-year-old Westphalian gelding, Landor 17, are looking
forward to an exciting show. But, the distractions of
being the operator of the show venue and coaching students
may play a big role in their progress....

Episode Twelve
The finals for the Championship of the Eastern Division
of the Kubota Cup Canadian Show Jumping Series are being
held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, during the Maritime Fall
Fair. Many of the top point earners in the Series have
made their way to the East Coast to participate and the
fans have turned out in record numbers to thrill at
the competition among some of Canada’s best riders....

Episode Thirteen
The National Finals for the Kubota Cup Canadian Show
Jumping Series are set amidst the glamour and clamor
of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, ON.
For the Finals, all riders are coming in fresh without
accumulated points. Course Designer Leopoldo Palacios of
Venezuela is well known for his very technically challenging
courses and tight time allowed....
